My Sunshine girl

Sometimes its hard to believe that my "little" sunshine girl is heading off to Kindergarten this year! I am so excited & I know she is too, But when she says "Mommy, I don't want to school, I have enough friends; I don't need anymore, I don't need to learn; I'm already smart, I want to stay with you forever, because when I leave I'll miss you too much." It makes me a little sad, I'm going to miss her too! She's been my little wingman since she was born & has hardly left my side. Sometimes I just sit back and watch, watch her do things shes done a million times and some how get taken back to where/when she first learned how to do whatever it is she was doing. I was always told "time flies enjoy it while you can" or "Don't blink" which is probably one of the main reasons why I got into photography. I never wanted to miss a moment. I have always want to freeze that moment in time with beautiful photos. Looking back at all the photos I can tell you exactly when and where they were taken along with how old each of my children were, and I love that I have those little memories that they will one day want to know about, or look at.
On Thursday we took Kadience to get her school physical & her shots done (she had to get four!!) it was quite a visit.Mr. Lion (her trusty stuffed animal/best friend/secret keeper) had to come with us to the appointment, Mr. Lion came all the way from Ireland. My Husband had gotten it for Kadience when he was on his was home from Iraq, Mr. Lion keeps her safe if anything ever happens if shes sick/scared or anything Mr. Lion is right by her side. Kadience is a very shy little thing. She usually will not talk to you if she hasn't been around you before & just because your a Doctor or a Police Officer, it doesn't matter. She doesn't want to have anything to do with you at all. First she had to get her Eyes checked by reading the board on the back wall. The Nurse was asking her what letters each of them were & she wouldn't answer. After the first 4 attempts it looked as if she was going to throw in the towel. Her eyes were filling up with tears & my heart sunk. Man oh man, all I could think was how much I felt for her, taking this big step & being put on the spot. So I asked her what the letter were and she told me. Eventually we got through the vision, hearing & blood pressure tests but she would only talk to me! She ended up having to get four shots and had to be held down by three Nurses & it broke my heart in a million pieces. She used to be the one that didn't cry when she got shots, but that day was so different. The screaming & tears that were shed made me wonder if it was really worth it or not, at that very second I didn't want her to go to school, but I know she had to get the shots over and out of the way. I know she will be in great hands. But Letting her go and having to watch her walk away is going to be hard, just thinking about it makes me all teary eyed. I never thought I'd be this emotional, I mean I used to be like "I cant wait until she goes to school because then I'll get some what of a break" and etc but I can seriously wait now, these next 11 days have my full permission to go by as slow as molasses. I know its not the end of the world, but I love her & all my girls. They are my everything & for the last 5 years they have always had my attention & time 365-24/7. Check out these photos below of Kadience just hours old. Shes grown up so much, I am so proud of her and everything she has accomplished.
Momma loves you sunshine girl!

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge | Eyes

I have followed I heart Faces (a photography tutorial/weekly challenge website) for a little over a year now. I have done the challenges in my free time but never posted a photo until today!! This is my very first entry & I am so excited! I took this photo of my 2year old as the thunder rolled in while we were playing outside. She's always been scared of storms & I honestly had no idea it was going to rain that day! I asked her to look up and smile at the same time that the thunder went off & this was the photo I got. I feel this photo is perfect for this challenge because there is so much raw emotion. Bella's eyes have captured the beautiful part of fear & to this day this is still one of my favorite photos, but I'm weird like that :)

Sweet Summertime!

Man o Man is it hot outside!! Triple digits + 100% humidity is enough for anyone to want to stay outside!! Before it had gotten this hot, I got to photograph a sweet family of three, Melissa, Hokey & their Son Hunter! They were up for anything, we walked around downtown & out around the Manor. I had a blast getting to know them & hope I get to do their maternity shoot, because they are now expecting baby #2, Congrats to you two! (I hope its a girl!!)

Father's Day Chain Tutorial!

My Daughters & I are very Crafty- We like to Sew, paint, Crochet & etc. We try pretty much anything that looks like it is a challenge. We decided to do a Fathers Day Chain. We haven't made a chain since their Papa deployed. You can make chains for anything, to count up or down or even keep track of your thoughts like, something fun you did that day or that you want to do. When you give it to him it is a neat pile of memories/growth & thoughts that your children came up with!

This time we kept the links to 6, because 6 is A good even number, not too much or little!

Here's how we did it!

You will need:

Construction Paper

Scissors

Glue

Markers (washable is the best for smaller children)

Make a List for each child on a separate piece of paper. Since we have 6 links, we have 6 different activities they enjoy or love about their Dad. Like, playing Tickle monster, Movie Dates & going to the Park.

(If you are doing this activity with older children who can write and spell this is not needed.)

We made the list for them to copy onto one activity onto each of the chain links that we cut out (photo not shown because I forgot! Oops!!)

After they are done, Ask them what their favorite thing to do while spending time with Dad. This is optional but the photo can be printed up & attached to the chain link/card at the end.

The final step, Lay out all of the links, Have your child pick what order they want them to go in on their chain. Then fold the link into a circle & have them glue the ends together.

Voila!! Your personalised Fathers Day Chains! Sweet & simple.

What I love most is this is an easy project that can be made from your craft supplies you already have at home, If you don't want to use glue you can use tape!

Now hurry.. Hide them before Dad gets home!!

A dilly and a dally on a Sunday!

I hope that everyone has been having a fantastic week! I am a little behind on posting my recent sessions on the blog, so there will be 2-3 more posts this week! (I usually try to post a new one once a week) We've been busy packing up to move for the 8th time in 5 years (thanks to the USMC) but this will be our first move of our own choosing! Its been quite a challenge packing up with 3 little girls following behind you and unpacking what you just packed, but it has been fun! Anyways- I took a break from packing on Sunday and caught up with a former PBP Bride, Ashley. I photographed her wedding this past January. Ashley & Her Husband Mike are expecting this first bundle of joy, a little girl in July. Ashley & her sister Amanda (whom is a stylist/ best friend/ personal assistant to Ashley ex. see photo below!) spent the day with me wondering around Fredericksburg. There was tons to catch up on since I had seen them last, we got to talking & "ooh's and ahh's" at all of the beautiful scenery & before we knew it we had been shooting for 2 hours!! I couldnt narrow it down to just a few photos, so here are pretty much all of my favorites! Enjoy! :)

P.s. Ashley, You are going to be a terrific Momma! I cant wait to meet Little Miss!
